Vanessa Hudgens is making it abundantly clear: she’s not in High School anymore.The former teen star is shedding her squeaky-clean High School Musical image with every move she makes. First, there were those topless pictures. (OK, maybe that wasn’t exactly in the game plan.) Then came the role as a stripper in the icy, upcoming thriller Frozen Ground. And now she’s appearing in a sultry photo spread in The Untitled Magazine. And we’re not being ambiguous: that’s the actual name of the mag.
She rocks some seriously smoky eye makeup on the magazine’s cover, as she alluringly bites her finger. And, of course, nothing says “I’m a grown-up now!” like black nail polish.
Inside the issue, the 23-year-old reveals her mindset as a maturing actress.
“High School Musical was incredible, and it was so fun, and it gave me so many fans, which I’m very, very thankful for; but it also closed people’s minds up as to which characters I could portray,” she says. “So, for a while, I was kind of struggling and fighting for these roles that I just desperately wanted. [...] Definitely crossing over and being able to tackle these grittier parts was a challenge, but I feel like I’ve done it! It’s a whole new chapter!”
Will audiences embrace Vanessa’s sexy second act? We’ll know once she twirls around the stripper pole in Frozen Ground, opening November 30.
